It’s possible that the 1985 Cos d’Estournel from cask was a milder version of the 1982 and 1953 vintages. It’s rich, luscious, lengthy, and medium to full-bodied, with a beautifully fragrant bouquet of pain grille and intense red and black fruits (particularly black cherries). This is one of Cos d’Estournel’s most forward wines, with plenty of luscious black fruits, minerals, and spice in both flavors and aromatics.
Dark, full-bodied, and intensely focused. With its luxurious coffee, herb, cedar, currant, coffee, mineral, and spice aromas, it reminds me of California. It reaches a pleasant sipping plateau, but it also has body, depth, and a lengthy, satisfying finish.
