The 1983 Pavie has an appealing smell of rich raspberry and plummy fruit interwoven with the scents of fresh wood and herbs, and is now fully mature. The color is still medium dark ruby, but there’s a hint of amber around the edges. The wine has a lot of rich, opulent, expansive red fruit aromas on the palate, but it also has enough acidity and tannin to give it grip and concentration. This exuberantly styled Pavie is surprisingly drinkable.
