Médoc
Médoc is the peninsula between the Gironde and the Atlantic, north of the city of Bordeaux. The gravel soils left behind by the glaciers warm quickly and drain well — the reason cabernet sauvignon thrives here. The area is home to the communal appellations Pauillac, Margaux, Saint-Julien and Saint-Estèphe.
