I wouldn’t be shocked if the final outcome achieves perfection after tasting numerous intermediary mixes that will eventually be mixed in some proportion to make the 2015 Hermitage. Despite being incredibly ripe and intense, the wines retain a sense of balance and elegance that I intend to carry over into the finished product. Because the blending process isn’t finished yet, Jean-Louis cautioned that it’s too early to say whether there will be a Cuvée Cathelin, which is often an exceptional parcel that doesn’t function with the rest of the blend for whatever reason.
