I was surprised to find that this is the first time that I have encountered this beautiful Gazin 1990. It has an irresistible, quintessential Pomerol nose with dusky dark plum fruit, leather and game. The palate has good weight thanks to the vintage, rounded in the mouth with fully degraded tannins. What remains are heart-warming secondary flavours of game, leather, clove and dried herbs. It continues to have real presence and personality. I cannot see it ageing for another 20 years if I am truthful, but for sure, it is in a very good place at the moment.
