Unbelievable showing for this wine. Perfectly stored in dad’s cellar since release and base neck fill. I knew it was a sleeper from the prior tasting but this bottle was even better. We took it to Gilbert’s steak house in Omaha. Opened with Durand and cork only half saturated and came out perfectly. Decanted and it had an immediate burst of blue fruit and some funk and a bit of metallic nose and flavor. After 20 min, most of the funk has blown off and the metallic aspect is gone and you are left with an aroma that makes it hard to take your nose out of the glass. Dark and youthful color. Modest sediment. Blue fruit domninates the aroma and some red and dark on the nose and the flavor with some truffle and flowers and some wet forest floor that move in and out as it is drank. Stable over almost 3 hours of sipping but just kept getting better with time in the glass. Just an incredible wine with the amazing steaks they have at Gilbert’s and all agreed. I give it the slight edge over the Rauzan-Segla 82 which we opened right after that mainly because I think this wine is drinking at peak and has a long finish and so lots of life in it.
