With scents of pain grille, pencil lead, black currant, and blackberry liqueur, the 2003 Vega Sicilia Valbuena is purple-colored and super-fragrant. This is followed by a strong, concentrated wine with layers of flavor, an opulent palate-feel, and excellent integration of oak, tannin, and acidity, no small task in the sweltering 2003 vintage.
