The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts has an extravagant bouquet that really shows up the Les Suchots: this is packed full of luscious red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit, a hint of vanilla pod with time. The palate is medium-bodied with plump tannin, fine acidity, impressive body with a dash of white pepper sprinkled liberally over the stocky finish. Excellent.
The 2016 Maison Jadot Beaux Monts is also outstanding this year. The bouquet is pure, precise and nicely black fruity, offering up scents of cassis, sweet dark berries, bitter chocolate, a bit of bonfire, pigeon, dark soil tones and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very elegant in profile, with a lovely core, fine soil signature and a long, ripely tannic and nicely soil-driven finish. Very classy juice. 2028-2060.
