Leflaive’s 2015 Puligny Montrachet Village is just as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel, opening in the glass with a youthfully reserved bouquet of citrus oil, white flowers, apple skin, subtle nutmeg and a framing of new oak. On the palate, the wine is glossy and full-bodied, but the power and concentration of the 2015 vintage is balanced by succulent acids and almost chewy structure, and its finish is pure and precise. While this is a comparatively muscular rendition of the village cuvée, all the elements are in harmony, and it should amply reward bottle age. Tasted blind, it would embarrass many producers’ premier crus. Matured in 15% new oak and bottled under Diam 30. (WK)
