Established in the late 1920s by Pierre Ramonet, the 17 ha domaine is now run by his grandsons Jean-Claude Ramonet and his brother Noël. It is hard to think of another Burgundian white wine estate with a pedigree and reputation as substantial as that of Ramonet. This third generation works with vines, with an average age of 50 years old, in prestigious appellations including Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet. Fruit from vines under 18 years old is excluded from the domaine`s cuvées, and yields are severely restricted. The winemaking is responsive to the vintage conditions and somewhat intuitive with the resulting wines showing concentration and powerful structure.
