The 2011 DRC Corton was harvested on September 2nd at a rate of 23.36 hl/ha. It boasts a delicate bouquet, possibly the most refined since Aubert de Villaine and his crew took over the vineyard’s management. Allowing the wine to breathe for 10 minutes brings out delicate ferrous notes, as well as undertones of wild mushroom penetrating the brambly crimson fruit. On the taste, it’s crisp at first, with flavors of bitter cherry and white pepper. The tannins are fairly abrasive in this vintage, giving it a more masculine feel than the prior two. The finish is cautious and linear, with excellent length, and it completes a very outstanding and upstanding Corton. A total of 460 instances were made.
