The 1995 Penfolds Grange is deep crimson in colour. It displays all the hallmarks that you would come to expect of Penfolds Grange, it complex, with concentrated plum, raspberry/blackberry aromas and hints of leather/dark chocolate/spice aroma’s The palate is sinuous and long, with cassis/prune/briary flavours, sweet gingerbread oak characters and dense firm, leafy tannins. The 1995 Penfolds Grange is a blend of shiraz 94% and cabernet sauvignon 6%. Fruit for the 1995 Penfolds Grange was sourced from vineyards located in the Barossa Valley, including the Kalimna Vineyard and Magill Estate. It was a difficult vintage, but careful selection of intensely flavoured grapes from old shiraz vines produced a wine that exceeded vintage expectations. The 1995 Penfolds Grange spent 17 months in new American oak.
